Following its success in France, the essay *Artificial Intelligence: And Man Created God* (*Intelligence artificielle : et l’Homme créa Dieu*), written by philosopher Gabrielle Halpern, has been published in the United States by Hermann Press Corporation.

"Artificial intelligence will replace human beings." We hear this prediction so often that we are tempted to believe it. But what if it isn't humans that AI is set to replace... but God? This book addresses that bold question with a blend of humor and seriousness, drawing a comparison between AI and God. It is not so much our humanity that AI seeks to mimic, but rather omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence—attributes of the divine. Always available, ready to answer all our prayers and questions with "benevolence" and "patience," and adaptable to each individual—is AI not becoming the tailor-made god that humans have always dreamed of? What kind of artificial intelligence has man created? And above all, what kind of human will artificial intelligence create?

"Another book on artificial intelligence? Oh no—that would make it the one hundred and twenty-third I’ve published this year! That is more or less what any publisher would tell you if you approached them with a manuscript on this trendy topic—a subject that, for quite some time now, has been crowding bookstore shelves, dominating minds and social media feeds, and interrupting conversations. Another book on artificial intelligence? But hasn’t everything already been said? Hasn’t everyone—business leaders, politicians, sociologists, psychologists, educators, philosophers—already published their own book on AI? Don’t you feel like you’re showing up late to the party? With trendy topics like this, the advantage goes to the early movers; latecomers simply end up repeating what has already been said. Since AI has already been thoroughly explored by others before me, I decided to approach the subject from a completely unconventional angle, blending the playful with the philosophical", Gabrielle Halpern

"This book is a hybrid essay—at once serious and whimsical. Serious *because* it is whimsical. Humorous digressions are, in fact, a powerful tool for delving into the depths of philosophical questions that even the most rigorous discourse cannot penetrate. I wanted to explore an intuition, let it drift, and then follow it until it slipped from my grasp. The initial idea—I must admit—was almost a joke: comparing ChatGPT to God. Not to believe in it, nor to convince others to believe, but to observe how the collective imagination, when discussing artificial intelligence, spontaneously invokes theological language: omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence. These attributes, which have defined divinity for centuries, suddenly seem to be projected onto a machine made of algorithms and servers. I had fun running with this metaphor, much like pulling a thread to see where it leads. And very quickly, beneath the exaggeration and the irony, I discovered that this parallel revealed a truth: our relationship with AI is, in a sense, a religious one. It stirs up messianic expectations, apocalyptic fears, usage rituals, implicit dogmas, and a faith that defies reason. Just as humanity once projected its fears and desires onto the gods, today we project our hopes and anxieties onto machines... Visit your favorite bookstore to discover it!", Gabrielle Halpern
